Artist Spotlight - *eat the daisies*
EAT THE DAISIES

Based in: “Foggia, downtown. South of Italy.”
Music Genre: “oh… this’s a big big problem. I’m not able to be so straight to follow one genre eheheh! Really I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing.”
Story behind the name: “I got some eating disorders in my life. So a very special person once said: ‘You’re fucked up. What do you wanna eat for survival?’ and I answered: DAISIES. ^_^ it’s pretty stupid, but then it sounds great.
TV: What is the alternative music scene like where you are?
*eat the daisies*: My town is quite boring. Some people talk and talk, but I’m very moody and don’t like people who talk too much. At the end of time, this city will be burn, because the people are stupid and ignorant. And posers, of course. Some people wanna just say “oh dude/oh grrl, I play in a band” but don’t want to play [instruments] either ehehhe it’s very stupid but it is [true].
Thus I decided not to feed [into] the “ghost scene” of this place.
So…there are few cool musicians. Few ones. Stop.
TV: At the moment you’re a solo act – any plans to put a band together?
etd: mmm I’m kind of a controlling person. Manic one. I like to do what I wanna do and I rarely accept suggestions… so I will have a band just if I find very very very [close] soulmates ^_^. Noisy ones.
TV: What kind of guitar do you play?
etd: [For] solid body ones, my own personal baby is a Squier Telecaster affinity series, and sounds beautiful despite everything. Then I got a BC rich “someone’s signature” ( I cannot remember and I don’t wanna move my bum now ehehe). Then I’m practicing with my brand new 12 string luthier guitar. About folk ones, I got an Eko Ranger - simplicity and pathos. I love strumming every instrument or every kind of stuff. Love noisy life and death.
TV: What’s the weirdest instrument you’ve ever played?
etd: I think it could have been one of mine at random weird tuned…or maybe my ukulele, but it’s not weird for real…maybe the weirdest one is my own voice.
TV: Gibson or Fender?
etd: Beatles or Rolling Stones? (Gibnder or Fenson)
TV: Rolling Stones. Stratocaster or Telecaster?
etd: Always Telecaster.
TV: Do you think there’s still space for individuality in music today?
etd: I think there’s place for everything you want. I’m used to [doing the things that I wanna do]. So the same with my music. Everything is such a great, beautiful/painful shot in the vein. It’s totally personal. It’s pretty cool. Some people would like it. Some people would hate it. But it’s important [for] the author [to] love, hate, puke it. Just don’t be indifferent. Individuality is great, if you know how to “play” it ^_^.
TV: *eat the daisies* has been around for a few years already, but at the moment you’re offering your latest records as downloadable for free –why’s that?
etd: Yes. My music is available for free because it MUST BE FREE, now. I feel it. The day I’ll be ready to ask money I will do, PROMISE! Ahahah!
TV: I really enjoy marvellous emptiness.. ,it’s such a diverse record full of expression and poetry - any plans for another album?
etd: Thank you Vik for supporting my shit. I got about 6/7 new songs. Then some covers, then some songs will be recorded. Yes, the next album is growing up well. My voice is still growing up too. Chain-smoking is growing up and I’m getting old, so I’ll have a great voice in few years ahahah!
By the way, the title would be something about Ennui. Nothing more, nothing less.
TV: You’re one of the acts on the forthcoming compilation CD “Burn the Borders”. How did you get involved with the project?
etd: Oh I “met” Past Life Records crew and I loved it at first sight eheheh! At the beginning it was a very nice idea for sharing music and meeting people with the same musical tastes (like you!) then Niki (Avataria)’s purpose hit me and I decided to be a part of it. The name (Burn the Borders) was a suggestion of mine…ahahha! I think it’s perfect because of the situation. I really love this crew… An odd sensation of feeling home, although we are far from each other. You know?
TV: If you don’t mind me saying, your music is quite bizarre - but what other adjectives would you use to describe it?
etd: Oh girl, you’re fucking right. Bizarre is a pretty cool word!
Some people refer to me as an outsider. In a funny way I refer to myself as an underdog. I’ve just said to you months ago, I wanna feel free to do what I want, so the results could be bizarre or odd or hysterique or easy or evil etc.
It’s good for me, feeling free in this way – I mean.
TV: Most important thing to know about *eat the daisies* is:
etd: She’s more a writer than a musician. She’s moody and gives up in a few.
She’s the worst person you can meet across the street. But nothing is really important.
